Afemo Omilami stars in the sophomore season of Netflix's original anthology drama series "True Detective" as Police Chief Holloway.

An accomplished film, television and stage actor, Afemo Omilami has appeared on Broadway and starred in plays written by Langston Hughes and August Wilson. His film work includes Robert Zemeckis' "Forrest Gump," Joel Schumacher's "Tigerland," Martin Scorsese's "Bringing Out the Dead," Boaz Yakin's "Remember the Titans," "Drumline," starring Nick Cannon, "Sweet Home Alabama," alongside Reese Witherspoon and Patrick Dempsey, John Lee Hancock's "The Alamo," starring Dennis Quaid and Billy Bob Thornton, Taylor Hackford's "Ray" with Jamie Foxx, "The Blind Side," starring Sandra Bullock, "Bloodworth" with Val Kilmer and Kris Kristofferson, "The Reaping," starring Hilary Swank, "Idlewild," alongside Terrence Howard, "Glory Road," starring Josh Lucas and Derek Luke, "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," opposite Dwayne Johnson and Channing Tatum, and "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson.

His many television credits include episodes of "Ghost Whisperer," "Law & Order," "Dawson's Creek," "The Shield," "In the Heat of the Night," "I'll Fly Away" and "All My Children." He was also recently seen opposite Queen Latifah in Lifetime's original movie "Steel Magnolias," which earned him a nomination for an NAACP Image Award in 2013.

Omilami is the co-director of the Atlanta-based organization, Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless, which is co-run by his wife, Elisabeth Williams-Omilami.

A native of Virginia, Omilami studied at Morehouse College in Atlanta. He later received a full scholarship to study at the NYU/Lee Strasberg Theatre. He is the father of two children, Awodele and Juanita.
