Alan Brown from "Cold Justice" is one of the detectives featured in the TNT reality series.

Alan Brown is a retired homicide detective from Houston, Texas, where he grew up as a third generation Houston cop. His grandfather was Houston police detective, as was his dad's brother. As early as 10 years old, Alen started tagging along when his grandfather went to work. Alan KNEW he wanted to be a cop.

After high school, Alan wasn't old enough to apply to HPD, so he spent a year at a small college in Arkansas where he played football. It wasn't for him, so he quit and spent the following year working at an oil company. Once he was old enough, he applied to Houston PD and started the police academy.

Back in 1985, two days after his 21st birthday, he graduated from the academy and hit the streets as a Houston cop. The law back then stated you had to be 21 to buy ammunition, so Alan hit the streets with a gun filled with bullets he was able to purchase himself!

Alan was a street officer for seven years and then was recruited to the HPD Homicide Division in 1992. He stayed there until 1996, then transferred to narcotics as an undercover officer for two years. In 1998, Alan went back to Homicide, where he worked until he retired in 2010.

In his many years as a homicide detective, Alan worked on and assisted on over 1000 murder cases.

Alan met Kelly Siegler in the late 1980s, when he was a baby police officer and she was a baby prosecutor. Over the past 25 years, they have worked a variety of cases together. Since retirement, Alan has conducted several criminal investigations for a large company on an as-needed basis. His true passion is homicide investigations, though, as it is the most rewarding work of all.
