Alex Cornelissen from "Whale Wars" is the captain of the Bob Barker vessel on the Animal Planet reality docu-series.

Alex Cornelissen ("Whale Wars") was introduced to Sea Sheperd in 2000 and was immediately impressed by the hands-on approach of Captain Paul Watson. Cornelissen quickly sold his apartment, quit his job and left the Netherlands in 2002 to join the organizations flagship, the Farley Mowat. What was supposed to be a one-year sabbatical turned into a life-changing decision to protect the world's oceans. Cornelissen quickly climbed ranks on the ship and became first mate of the Farley Mowat in 2004, followed by captain in 2006.

Cornelissen has traveled the world's oceans, saving seals in Canada on two campaigns, whales in Antartica four times, sharks and turtles in Galapagos in four campaigns, and dolphins in Japan. In 2007, he became Sea Shepherd's Director of Operations in the Galapagos and exchanged life at sea for life on the islands, passionately defending one of the world's last untouched wildernesses.

Cornelissen has been arrested in Canada twice and in Japan once for defending wildlife.
