American Idol" but got cut in the first round.
Ashlyn Carr auditioned in San Antonio where she told the judges about how a high school rival had beat her unconscious because she had such a good voice. Ashlyn Carr then sang Michael Bublé's version of "Feeling Good."

Paula Abdul liked her singing but voted "no" because they were put off by the odd facial expressions that Ashlyn Carr made while singing.
Simon Cowell said that they were making a mistake. After Ashlyn Carr had left the room, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul reconsidered their position and invited Ashlyn Carr back in for a second chance. For her second song, Ashlyn Carr sang Natalie Cole's "Inseparable." This time, the judges told Ashlyn Carr that she had to work on her facial expressions but unanimously put her through to the next round.
