Jorge Nuñez was the second person eliminated out of the 13 finalists on FOX's "American Idol 8." Jorge Nuñez-Mendez auditioned in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Jorge Nunez sang "My Way" in Spanish and "What a Wonderful World" in English for his audition. All four judges voted yes to send Jorge Nunez to Hollywood. Jorge Nunez was in the third group of 12 contestants to perform out of the top 36 and was one of the highest vote getters, guaranteeing him a spot among the finalists.

Jorge Nuñez is in his fourth year at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. In addition to English and Spanish, Jorge Nuñez is also fluent in French. Jorge Nunez-Mendez currently lives in Carolina, Puerto Rico but is originally from Cidra, Puerto Rico. Jorge Nunez is 20 years old.
