Andrew Montanez from "Robot Combat League" is the robo-jockey for Team A.X.E. in the Syfy competition series. His teammate is robo-tech Ross Mead. Montanez is a martial arts ambassador who currently lives in Hollywood, California. He is originally from Mineola, New York.

A professional MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighter known as "The Squid," Andrew Montanez is proud to claim that the only jobs he's ever had have involved fighting and teaching martial arts. A veteran of 25 professional bouts, he was undefeated in 14 no-rules Vale Tudo contests and in 2010 won National Fighting Championship's Middleweight Title. He currently hosts the popular Web show, "MMA Surge," where he instructs fight fans on bone-crushing moves from disciplines including kickboxing, judo, karate, boxing and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. When he isn't teaching online, Andrew works as a fight choreographer and stuntman on Hollywood sets. He hasn't seen his parents in two years, but hopes that they'll be happy and proud when they see him competing on "Robot Combat League." A fighter at heart, he's always looking for the win.
