Angel Moore-Soukkay from "MasterChef" is one of the top 18 contestants in Season 2 of the FOX reality cooking competition series. She is a 37-year-old property manager from Columbus, Ohio. Her signature dish is a Vietnamese beef noodle soup called pho bo. She though calls it "The Morning After Soup."

Q&A with Angel Moore-Soukkay ("MasterChef"):

Who was your first cooking inspiration?

Aw, that would have to be my mother! God, how I love that woman and what she does in the kitchen! To this day, I cannot for the life of me recreate her fried chicken. She has taught me everything I know. I look forward to the holidays. You would think she was feeding an army, we would have so much food. I used to think my mom was magical because she can make anything taste good, even a peanut butter and jelly sandwich! If you made something and it wasn't good, not only was she critical, but she was also constructive. Now I do the cooking for mom and she loves it!

What is the first dish you ever mastered?

I am the master of the egg roll. Getting the technique down was kind of difficult, but practice makes perfect and now I make all different kinds of egg rolls.

What is your favorite thing to cook?

My most favorite thing to cook is Vietnamese beef noodle soup, pho. Getting the right consistency of the broth is what makes this dish. It sounds easy, but it isn't. Anyone can get pre-made beef stock, but this stock needs time for the full flavor to mature. It's the broth that makes the soup! When you add all the other accompaniments this soup isn't just any soup, it's a meal in a bowl. Full and hearty with a lot of freshness!

What did you learn as a contestant on "MasterChef"?

Patience and humbleness! You are dealing with a lot of different personalities and characteristics from all walks of life. It gave me a better mindset not to let things get to you. Humbleness is a wonderful thing. This experience with "MasterChef" made me rethink a lot of qualities about myself and make changes for the good. Look, getting on my knees and begging for that apron was something I thought I would never do for anyone or anything. However, if you want something bad enough and you know in your heart this is for you then, humble yourself with vulnerability and you might just get what you want!
