Anthony Ryan Auld from "Project Runway" is one of the designers competing in Season 9 of the Lifetime reality fashion design competition series. He currently lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but is originally from Linden, Texas. He is 28 years old.
Anthony Ryan Auld ("Project Runway 9") realized he had design potential when he sewed a quilt one summer with his grandmother when he was young. He received a Bachelor of Arts in fashion design, with a minor in business, from Louisiana State University in 2010. That same year, he won Best in Show at Fashion Group International's Dallas Career Day. His past jobs have all been in retail, except for when he was a paid intern at BCBG in the summer of 2010.
His favorite designers are Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen and Karl Lagerfeld. Auld considers a great pair of high heels and a killer clutch a fashion must for women. For men, he thinks it's a great printed bow or skinny tie and a dark pair of skinny or straight-legged jeans. He says his design strengths are mixing patterns and making an overall fabric choice, while his weakness is that he is red-green and blue-yellow colorblind. In the past, his designs have been influenced by art, specifically graphics and linear things. But now he says it's all about a story, whether it's a historical event or his own heritage in general. When he's designing he likes listening to Lady Gaga, Adele, and everything from R&B and rap to pop and electronic.
