Anton Lesser stars in "Game of Thrones" on HBO in the recurring role of Qyburn, a former maester of the Citadel, who was stripped of his chain many years ago. Lesser also recently recurred in BBC America's "Primeval," as Gideon.

Anton Lesser is an acclaimed British actor, most well-known for his Shakespearean performances. He was trained at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) and has been an associate member of the world-renowned Royal Shakespeare Company since 1990. He has played many of the great Shakespeare roles for the RSC, including Petruchio in "Taming of the Shrew," Romeo in "Romeo and Juliet," and King Richard III.

While the stage is Lesser's primary vocation, he is also active on screen. His film credits include "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," opposite Johnny Depp, "The Missionary," "The Assam Garden," "Charlotte Gray" and "Imagining Argentina." He also has a considerable roster of television credits, including "The Mill on the Floss," "Anna of the Five Towns," "The Simon Wiesenthal Story," "The Politician's Wife," "The Moonstone," "Vanity Fair," "The Scarlet Pimpernel," "Loma Doone," "Perfect Strangers," "Foyle's War," "Midsomer Murders," "The Girl in the Cafe," and the highly acclaimed BBC miniseries "Little Dorrit."

Additionally, Lesser is very active on the BBC radio and in spoken word audio. He is particularly well-known for hos sterling audio book recordings of the novels of Charles Dickens. Lesser even played Dickens in a BBC series about the life of the great author.
