April Johnston from "Project Runway All Stars" is one of the designers competing in the Lifetime reality fashion design competition series. She was originally on Season 8 of "Project Runway," coming in 5th place. The second-youngest contestant ever to appear on the show, she is best known for her dark textures and grunge-inspired pieces.
April ("Project Runway 8") just graduated from college. She currently lives in Savannah, Georgia, but is originally from Mooresville, North Carolina.
The first garment April Johnston ever made was her prom dress. She first realized she had potential as a designer when she was in high school and made her prom dress and artistically painted and decorated her room. She has a bachelor's degree in fashion design from SCAD and was accepted to show at the 2010 SCAD fashion show.
When she's designing, she likes listening to Caspa and Rusko, dub step techno or A Perfect Circle. She thinks blazers are a fashion must. She says she can illustrate a beautiful sketch and bring it to life as a garment. Among her design influences, she counts the decayed beauty of abandoned asylums or morgues. Her manifesto is to "destroy, to create."
Her favorite designers are Alexander McQueen and John Galliano.
