Barbara Hershey stars in "Insidious," opposite Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne, as Lorraine Lambert, and in the Academy Award-nominated film "Black Swan," opposite Natalie Portman, as Erica Sayers.

A native of Hollywood, California, Barbara Hershey made her acting debut in 1965 on the TV series, "Gidget" (1965-1966). Her motion picture career, however, began in 1968 when she starred in, "With Six You Get Eggroll" (1968). The 1980s catapulted Hershey's film career to star status. She starred in "The Stunt Man" (1980), "The Right Stuff" (1983), "The Natural" (1984), "Hannah and Her Sisters" (1986), "Hoosiers" (1986), "Tin Men" (1987), "Beaches" (1988) and "A World Apart" (1988).

Hershey is a winner of an Emmy and Golden Globe Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Special for "A Killing In A Small Town" (1990). She also won back-to-back Best Actress Awards at the Cannes Film Festival for her performances in "Shy People" (1987) and "A World Apart" (1988).

On televison, she played Dr. Francesca Alberghetti on "Chicago Hope" and starred in The WB's short-lived series, "The Mountain."

More recently, Hershey has starred in the TV movie "Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning," the TV series "Agatha Christie's Poirot," and the films "Albert Schweitzer," "Insidious" and "Answers to Nothing."
