Barry Flatman stars in "Private Eyes" on ION as Don Shade.

One of Canada's most prolific film and television performers, Barry Flatman has appeared in over thirty movies, has had leading roles in countless TV series, has guest-starred in many more; has performed featured roles in several dozen movies for television, and has created many voice characters for animation. He has also produced, written, directed, and taught for stage, TV, film, and radio. He has a Gold Record, and has been nominated for both Juno and Gemini awards.

Flatman's recently had recurring roles in AMC's "Hell on Wheels" and FX's "Fargo." He has also appeared in episodes of "The Strain," "Degrassi: The Next Generation," "Hannibal," "Defiance," "Haven," "Transporter the Series," "Copper," "The Firm," "Happy Town," "Being Erica" and "Monk." Other on-screen credits include "Dr. Cabbie" (Caramel Films), "Patch Town" (Suki Films), "The Christmas and Daniel's Daughter" (Hallmark), "Guns" (CBC) and "The Kennedys" (History Channel).



Onstage, Flatman has starred in "Enron" at Theatre Calgary, "Fool for Love" at Segal Centre, and "Stuff Happens" at Studio 180. His performance as "Big Daddy" in the Segal Centre Production of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" garnered him a nomination for Best Actor. He also starred as General Waverley in the US National touring production of Kevin McCollum's "White Christmas."

Flatman served on the National, Guild, and Toronto executives of ACTRA for over ten years and received the honorary title of President Emeritus for Toronto and Life Membership. He has been a Member of the Board of the Actors' Fund of Canada since 2005 and served as its President until 2011. He is the loving father of two magnificent children, and is a season's ticket holder to the Leafs for almost forty years — although a rabid Habs fan!
