Ben Mankiewicz from "Hot Set" is the host of the Syfy reality production design competition series.

For nearly a decade, Ben Mankiewicz has been presenting classic films as a host of Turner Classic Movies — and his family has a long, rich Hollywood history. His grandfather, Herman Mankiewicz, is an Oscar-winning screenwriter for "Citizen Kane." He also worked on "The Wizard of Oz," "Dinner at Eight," "Pride of the Yankees" and "The Pride of St. Louis." His great uncle, Joseph Mankiewicz, won Oscars for writing and directing both "All About Eve" and "A Letter to Three Wives." He also wrote and directed "The Barefoot Contessa," "The Quiet American," "Cleopatra," "Guys and Dolls" and produced "The Philadelphia Story." Mankiewicz's cousin Tom, a writer/director, has credits including "Superman I," "Superman II" and three James Bond movies.

With a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University, Mankiewicz began his career as a television reporter and anchor, before becoming a talk radio host and eventually a film critic. He served as a critic on the syndicated show "At the Movies," has analyzed the nominations for ABC's "Oscars Red Carpet Live" pre-show and currently co-hosts a roundtable movie review show with other film critics, "What the Flick?!," on the Young Turks Network.
