Brian J. Smith Stargate Universe Cindy Pickett and Brian J. Smith Hate Crimes (2005) Brian J. Smith Pictures Brian J. Smith stars as Lt. Matthew Scott, a junior member of the Stargate team, on Syfy's "Stargate Universe." Green and rough around the edges, Lt. Matthew Scott is thrust into the role of leader well before he's ready for the responsibility and must learn to command, earn respect through action, and manage the diverse personalities aboard the ship. Originally from Dallas, Texas, Brian J. Smith is a recent graduate of the four year acting program at The Julliard School in New York City. Since graduation, Brian J. Smith has starred in the indie film "The War Boys," opposite Peter Gallagher and written by award winning playwright Naomi Wallace and Bruce McLeod, and appeared in the thriller "Redhook." Both pictures are slated for release in 2009. In addition, Brian J. Smith had a role in the indie "Hate Crime" (2005). Most recently he guest-starred on NBC's "Law and Order." Brian J. Smith appeared on Broadway in "Come Back," "Little Sheba" opposite Epatha Merkerson, and, off-Broadway, in "Good Boys and True," and "Three Changes," opposite Dylan McDermott and Maura Tierney. Brian J. Smith studied at the Quad C Theatre program at Collin County Community College in Plano, Texas. Brian J. Smith is a graduate of the four-year Acting program at The Juilliard School Drama Division in New York City.
