Cara Seymour stars in "The Knick" on Cinemax as Sister Harriet, who isn't a run-of-the-mill nun. When Harriet is not tending to the needs of the hospital's children and pregnant women, she smokes and enjoys a witty repartee with Tom Cleary (Chris Sullivan).

Cara Seymour began her career in Trouble & Strife, a theater company which she co-founded as an undergraduate in England. They co-wrote, acted and produced three original plays and toured extensively, winning a Time Out Award for their play "Now and at the Hour of Our Death."

Seymour won considerable acclaim on the New York Stage, appearing in the New Group's Obie winning-productions of Mike Leigh's "Ecstasy" and "Goose Pimples" and The Public Theater production of Caryl Churchill's "The Skryker." She also recently performed at the Irish Rep in Brian Friel's "Freedom of the City," as well as "Gibraltar," an adaptation of "Ulysses," and Penelope Skinner's "The Village Bike" at MCC.

Seymour's film credits include "American Psycho," starring Christian Bale, Lars von Trier's "Dancer in the Dark," alongside Björk and Catherine Deneuve, Martin Scorsese's "Gangs of New York," starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis and Cameron Diaz, "Adaptation," opposite Nicolas Cage and Meryl Streep, "Birth," starring Nicole Kidman, "Hotel Rwanda," starring Don Cheadle, "The Savages," alongside Laura Linney and Philip Seymour Hoffman, "An Education" with Carey Mulligan and Peter Sarsgaard, "Jack and Diane," "The Music Never Stopped" and "I Origins," opposite Michael Pitt.
