Carol Hannah Whitfield currently works as a freelance designer. In the past, she worked as a catalogue clothing company buyer and bridal consultant for Maddisa Row. She took a career survey in the fifth grade that said she was well-suited to fashion design. The first garments she ever made were Barbie clothes and, for herself, a little sundress. She learned to sew from her mom and taught herself pattern making and draping from books. She graduated from College of Charleston in 2007 with a B.S. in Business Administration, Marketing and Art.
Her favorite designers are Valentino and Oscar de la Renta. When she's designing, she likes listening to Goldfrapp, Bitter:Sweet, Death Cab for Cutie, John Legend, Michael Buble, The Format and Imogen Heap. She considers great rings, chunky bracelets, dramatic black pieces and every kind of cocktail dress under the sun to be absolute fashion musts. She believes being able to carry a theme through several pieces, sewing fast and seeing things from a construction point of view are her greatest strengths as a designer. The landscapes of Charleston have influenced her designs. She would love to design for Keira Knightley.
