The Challenge: Rivals

"The Challenge: Rivals" is Season 21 of MTV's reality competition series that was originally entitled, "Real World Road Rules Challenge."

Can you trust your worst enemy? That is the question that twenty-eight vicious competitors will be asking themselves this season as they travel to the lush jungles of Costa Rica to compete in a thrilling new Challenge: "Rivals." These fan favorites will receive the shock of their lives when they learn that their one and only teammate will be their biggest rival! In order to win, these arch-enemies must figure out how to overcome their rocky pasts and compete together for a jaw-dropping grand prize. Over $300,000 is at stake, and these bitter rivals will fight tooth and nail in order to get their hands on a cut of the cash!

However, not every rival pair will make it to the end to fight for a share of the wealth. Teams will live in fear of "The Jungle"—a mentally and physically exhausting elimination round. Avoiding the dreaded "Jungle" will mean that these bitter enemies must learn to work together, despite their ugly pasts, in order to win challenges. Here's how it works: there will be male challenge days and female challenge days. After each challenge, the winning duo will be safe from "The Jungle." However, ranks will be thinned as the last place pair will automatically be sent into "The Jungle." Their opponents will be selected by their peers in a public forum. These two unlucky teams will battle it out in "The Jungle" for survival. The winning pair will stay in the game to pursue their dreams of victory. The losing pair, however, will be sent home in disgrace. Only the pairs that make it to the end will have a chance at the money.

With over $300,000 on the line, these players must quickly learn to bury the hatchet with their rival or risk losing a shot at the cash. Old tensions will arise and new feuds will form. Partnerships will be tested, romances will blossom, hearts will be broken, and punches will be thrown, as battles rage both on and off the playing field. And in a shocking, mid-season twist, players will be sent over 3,000 miles away to a new location! Those who manage to survive until the end will compete in what is undeniably the biggest, baddest, most treacherous finale in "Challenge" history—where one male team and one female team will win it all and be crowned champions of "Rivals."

"The Challenge: Rivals" is executive produced by Jonathan Murray, Scott Freeman and Justin Booth. Jack Reifert is producer.

The Challenge: Cutthroat

On "Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Cutthroat," thirty fan favorites will head to the mysterious city of Prague in the Czech Republic to compete in a bold new "Challenge," where players will discover an exciting new game, filled with twists and surprises. For the first time ever, there will be three teams, chosen by the players themselves. These three teams will battle each other in nine extreme challenges, leading up to a massive and grueling finale. With over $500,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs, the Challengers will need to stay true to the name of the game and get cutthroat to secure their share of the prize!

With a whopping thirty players competing, not everyone will make it to the end to vie for the riches. After each challenge, one man and one woman from each losing team will be sent into the dreaded "Gulag." Modeled after the infamous Soviet work prisons, "The Gulag" is a torturous one-on-one battle arena that will test players' mental and physical capacities. Only the strong will survive and proudly return to the game to compete. The weak, however, will be shamefully defeated and leave with absolutely nothing.

Staying out of the hellish "Gulag" means achieving victory in the challenges. After each challenge, the winning team will be safe from "The Gulag" and bank $20,000 to be shared amongst their final players. These lucky winners will have the pleasure of dining on an elegant feast, while the two losing teams will each be forced to send one male and one female player from their own ranks into "The Gulag." And in one of the biggest shockers of the game, players will enter a shadowy dungeon to cast a secret vote. Lies will be told and hearts will be broken, as these Challengers realize the powerful impact of a secret vote. Once the dust clears and the votes have been cast, the man and woman on each team with the most votes against them will be sentenced to "The Gulag." But these embattled players aren't out of the game just yet. The men will clash in their "Gulag" competition—and so will the women. The winners will come right back to the very team that just voted against them and the losers will be sent straight home.

With over a half a million dollars in cash and prizes on the line, players will push themselves—and each other—past their breaking points. This is the most exciting group of players in years and anything is possible: friendships will be tested, romances will blossom, rivalries will emerge, and blood will be shed. And the greatest shock of all will occur in a jaw-dropping, mid-season twist that is too big to even hint at! These Challengers are in for the fight of their lives in order to win it all and be crowned champions of Cutthroat!

Real World Road Rules Challenge: Fresh Meat 2

"Real World Road Rules Challenge: Fresh Meat 2" on MTV pairs 13 brand new challengers with 13 veterans in one of the most dramatic Challenges to date. Strategy is key in "Fresh Meat 2," and alliances hold more value than friendships. But it's the old rivalry between Kenny Santucci and Wes Berggman that drives the competition ... on and off the playing field ... and only the most cunning will survive.

Real World Road Rules Challenge: The Ruins

MTV's "Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Ruins" has tapped 28 contestants to compete in an exciting new season. MTV is pitting grizzled and greedy former winners, henceforth known as "Champions," to do battle against a team of equally greedy newcomers and past Challenge losers that MTV has dubbed "Challengers." They will meet in exotic Thailand to see who can face the rigors of "The Ruins."

Although players will compete on teams, they will also bank winnings into individual bank accounts as they compete in nine intense challenges and a thrilling finale. There is $300,000 up for grabs and, as always, the players will do whatever it takes to get their cut of the Challenge prize.

Not everyone will last until the end to earn a share of the wealth. After each weekly challenge, one man and one woman from each team will compete in "The Ruins"—a head-to-head battle between two competitors, where one man and one woman will be eliminated. The winner of "The Ruins" not only stays in the game, but pockets the loser's bank account, making them richer—as well as a bigger target in the eyes of the other players. The loser? Well, the loser goes home flat broke.

Avoiding "The Ruins" depends on how well teams do in the challenges. Before each challenge, each team will nominate six people—three men and three women from their ranks—to be eligible for "The Ruins." After every challenge, the winning team will split $20,000 evenly. Then, the winning team's lucky six nominees will be "the match-makers" who will select which man and woman from each team will be sentenced to "The Ruins." The selected men will have their "Ruins" competition and so will the women. The losers will be sent packing.

As with any Challenge, the competitor who plays their cards right and forms the best alliances will find they have the power. Those who do not may just find themselves in "The Ruins." However, in Thailand, going into the elimination round is a risk that could pay off, as the winner ends up acquiring their opponent's bank account.

Only the players that make it to the end will walk away with the cash they've banked and compete in the finale. Plus, the winners of the finale will earn an additional grand prize!

Ultimately, friendships will be put to the test, hearts will be broken and battles will rage—both on and off the playing field—as players do whatever it takes to be crowned the winners of "The Ruins"!

Real World Road Rules Challenge: The Duel 2

Twenty-six competitors are headed to New Zealand to compete in one of the most intense "Real World/Road Rules Challenges" ever: "The Duel 2." What makes this season different? There will be no teams. That's right; it's every man and woman for themselves. This time around, players will be pushed past their limits as they compete in nine extreme challenges leading up to an epic finale where the winners will split a purse of $300,000.

As has become the norm for every "Real World/Road Rules Challenge," aka RW/RR Challenge, expect to see the Challengers plot, scheme and stab one another in the back as they put everything on the line to win!

Who's in? Thirteen men and 13 women—all veterans of "The Real World" or "Road Rules," and some of the "Challenge" itself—will step up to try to claim their share.

The men throwing their hat into the ring are Eric, Nick, Brad, Dunbar, Adam, Mark, Landon, Davis, Derek, Evan, Isaac, CT and Ryan.

The ladies trying their luck in this "Real World/Road Rules Challenge" are Kimberly, Ruthie, Diem, Katie, Aneesa, Jenn, Tori, Robin, Brooke, Paula, Rachel, Brittini and Shauvon.

Here's how it will work:

After each week's challenge, the Challenger ranks will be thinned as players are sent into "The Duel" —- a no holds barred, head-to-head battle between two competitors, where one man and one woman will be eliminated. The rules of "The Duel" are simple: win at all costs and send your opponent packing. The winner stays and continues to fight for the money. The loser goes home empty handed ... end of story.

Staying out of "The Duel" depends on how well players do in the weekly challenges. After each grueling challenge the male winner and the female winner will be safe. These two must then agree on one person to save from "The Duel." That person, in turn, will chose someone of the opposite sex to save, and so on down the line. The last man and woman standing are automatically sentenced to "The Duel." But they're not out of the game yet, because each will get to choose a same-sex Duel opponent and battle it out until only one is left standing.

In order to ensure survival, players will form alliances and pair up, keeping their friends close and their enemies closer. But make no mistake about it, in the end, friendships will be tested, hearts will be broken and blood will be spilled as players must ultimately stand alone in order to be crowned champions of "Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Duel 2! "
