Charlotte Salt stars in "Bedlam" on BBC America as Kate Bettany. She also recently played the recurring role of Lady Ursula Misseldon in Showtime's "The Tudors."

Charlotte Salt was born and raised in the UK in the small town of Newcastle-Under-Lyme. She attended the local junior school Edenhurst with her younger sister Abbie and later St. Dominics Priory school before attending a year at Newcastle college. After a couple of years of putting on productions at The New Victoria Theatre while still at St. Dominics, a television crew came to town to find young actors for the TV series "In a Land of Plenty," which had already cast Helen McCory and Robert Pugh. Only 13 at the time, Charlotte landed the role of Laura along with her younger sister, who played the character in her early years. The demanding role placed Charlotte with a top London agent.

Charlotte's next job was playing Sasha Tracey in BBC 2's TV movie "The Whistle-Blower." Winning the role was a challenge, as she needed to drop her northern twang to play a Londoner. Charlotte went on to shoot episodes of such shows as "Inspector Lynley Mysteries" and "The Bill" before landing the role of Helen Gilder in BBC 1's "Born and Bred" in 2003. Charlotte went on to play the 1950s northern sweetheart for four seasons. In 2005 Charlotte left the show and headed to Los Angeles, where she ironically next landed the female lead in a European horror movie directed by the cult horror legend Brain Yuzna. Return to L.A., she tested for an American television show directed by the acclaimed playwright David Mamet that won her a working visa.

Soon enough, she booked guest appearances on HBO's "Entourage" and CBS's "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," opposite Academy Award winner Faye Dunaway, before going on to play Ioan Gruffudd assistant in the comedy "The TV Set," along with David Duchovny and Sigourney Weaver. Charlotte then won a part in Robert Zemeckis's "Beowulf," starring Anthony Hopkins and Angelina Jolie.

Charlotte next starred in ABC Family's "Wildfire," playing a British heiress for two seasons. She was then seen in "Deep in the Valley" an out there comedy about the porn industry and "Ivory," an independent movie set around a group of young brilliant musicians. For the role, Charlotte had to learn a Russian dialect and to become believable as a concert pianist.
