Chris Brooks is a gymnast competing at the 2012 London Summer Olympics for the USA. He is the 2010 U.S. high bar champion and a 2010 World Team member.

Chris Brooks is an alternate for the U.S. men's gymnastics team. He finished tied for fourth at the conclusion of Nationals and Trials.

Brooks' career has been plagued by a series of injuries. In December 2010 he had two ankle surgeries to clean up cartilage damage and bone spurs. Brooks also had wrist surgery. In 2004 he suffered "grip lock" on high bar — the top part of his grip wrapped around the bottom and locked his hand in place. Brooks had to be "unwound" from the bar by his older brother in order to be disconnected from the high bar. The ulna and radius in his right arm were shattered and splintered. Brooks says the key for him to make the 2012 Olympic Team: "Stay healthy!"

After competing at the 2011 VISA Championships, Brooks sported a t-shirt that said "I love pommel horse" with his picture on it. The shirt was a gift from former coach Rustam Sharipov to help him stay patient with his least favorite apparatus. "It was a joke to relieve the stress from pommel horse and laugh at myself," Brook said. "It became my lucky meet shirt."

He made his world championship debut in Rotterdam in 2010, where he qualified for the high bar final (6th). Brooks competed five events during qualifying (all but rings) and four events (pommel, vault, parallel bars, and high bar) in the team finals. The U.S. team finished fourth, a few points behind Germany in third. Brooks was an alternate on the 2011 World Team.

Brooks grew up training with U.S. champion Jonathan Horton in Houston, Texas. After Horton left for the University of Oklahoma, Brooks was not far behind. When Horton graduated and moved back to Texas, Brooks stayed in Norman. By 2011, however, Brooks was back training alongside his childhood friend. As an alternate for the 2011 World Team, Brooks joins fellow (current and former) Sooners Jake Dalton, Steven Legendre, Jonathan Horton, and Alexander Naddour.

He is a car enthusiast and loves his corvette — a Z06 race edition. Brooks has added air intake, full exhaust, and custom tune. It also has iForged wheels and is lowered a little bit. When he lived in Oklahoma, he belonged to a group who got together weekly to go to car shows or just go out to dinner and talk cars.

Brooks' father did gymnastics in high school and started teaching his brother and sister when Chris was five. Chris began two years later at seven years old. His brother coached him for a few years before he went to college. Brooks' father passed away after a car accident in 2008. "My dad was my No. 1 fan," he told the Houston Chronicle. "When I'm in th gym and my body hurts and I've got a bad attitude, I think of him. That gives me something extra on the days I need it."
