Clare Bowen stars in ABC's drama series "Nashville" as Scarlett O'Connor.

Hailing from the South Coast of New South Wales, Australia, Bowen is a young and exciting new face in the industry. While studying for Bachelor of Creative Arts at the University of Wollongong, she performed in a number of school theatrical productions.

Her first big break came when her former acting class teacher David Field approached her to audition for a new film he was directing: "The Combination." Bowen was cast as the lead female in the film, which was released in cinemas in 2009. Since then, she was seen in the films "The Clinic" and "10 Days to Die." On Australian television, she had a recurring role in "Home and Away" and guest starred in episodes of "All Saints," "Chandon Pictures" and "The Cut."

On stage, Bowen played Wendla Bergman in the Sydney Theatre Company's version of the Tony Award-winning musical "Spring Awakening" in 2010.

A survivor of childhood cancer, Bowen is an Australian Cancer Council Youth Ambassador.
