As one of television's more enduring talents, Courtney Thorne-Smith has done the near impossible three times over, anchoring consecutive hit TV shows over the past fifteen years. On ABC's "According to Jim," Courtney Thorne-Smith plays the charismatic wife of Jim Belushi. Previously her role as Georgia in Fox Television's Emmy-winning series, "Ally McBeal," solidified her as a top television personality. Courtney Thorne-Smith first gained international attention during her five-season turn as Allison Parker in the much-loved primetime drama, "Melrose Place." Courtney Thorne-Smith has set out to conquer the literary world as well. Her first novel, "Outside In," hit book shelves in September 2007. As a writer, Courtney Thorne-Smith has spoken out about core women's issues such as body image and healthy living in feature articles for In Style, Allure and SELF Magazine, where she also served as contributing editor. Courtney Thorne-Smith is no stranger to the big screen either. After being discovered in an open casting call in her native San Francisco, Courtney Thorne-Smith starred as Charlie Sheen's girlfriend in her first film, "Lucas." Courtney Thorne-Smith then moved to Los Angeles and went on to appear in such films as "Summer School," "Revenge of the Nerds II" and "Side Out." Television credits include starring roles in the NBC series "Day by Day" and the series version of "Fast Times at Ridgemont High." Courtney Thorne-Smith also played a recurring role on "LA Law," guest starred on "Spin City" and "Anything But Love," and starred in the television films "Beauty's Revenge," "Tour of Duty," First Flight" and "Infidelity." Serving as a celebrity spokesperson, Courtney Thorne-Smith acted as the face of Almay Cosmetics and was honored to represent the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation for two years through a variety of activities, including appearing on the cover of "Special K" and "Smart Start" cereals. In addition Courtney Thorne-Smith has collaborated with various animal rescue organizations, as well as PAWS/LA, a group dedicated to helping HIV patients to keep and care for their pets. With her philanthropic work in women's issues and animal rights, Courtney Thorne-Smith's commitment to pro-social causes is a cornerstone of her public identity.
