Daniel Eric Gold was born in Los Angeles, California, to a biochemist and an artist. Gold grew up in Los Angeles as well as Long Island, New York, and attended Lee Strasberg's Theater Institute as a teenager before graduating from Penn State in 1996 with a Theater Arts degree.
After college, Gold moved to Chicago to perform in stage productions such as Jean Cocteau's "Indescretions," "Much Ado About Nothing," Patrick Marber's "Dealer's Choice" and Jonathan Harvey's "Beautiful Thing." He then relocated to New York, where he appeared in Craig Lucas's "This Thing of Darkness," "A Small Tragedy," "The Singing Forest," "The Paris Letter" and "subUrbia."
Gold's film credits include "War of the Worlds," starring Tom Cruise, "Charlie Wilson's War" with Tom Hanks, "Definitely, Maybe," alongside Ryan Reynolds, and "Spinning into Butter" opposite Sarah Jessica Parker.
