David Blue stars as Eli Wallace on Syfy's newest installment in the Stargate franchise, "Stargate Universe." Eli Wallace is a total slacker, who just happens to be an utter genius with anything he puts his mind to, whether it be mathematics, computers, or video games. A lack of confidence has left him with an acerbic sense of humor.
Bursting onto the scene with his boyish grin, David Blue took Hollywood by storm with his quick wit and roles in two of the hottest shows on television. You might recognize Blue from ABC's smash hit show "Ugly Betty," starring as Cliff St. Paul, Mode Magazine's illustrious photographer and soul mate/love interest to Wilhelmina's faithful assistant, Mark St. James. As a cast member on "Moonlight" (CBS), Blue portrayed Logan Griffen, a technology-obsessed vampire within the inner circle of lead Alex O'Loughlin's, Mick St. James.
Blue has also made appearances on the hit series "Veronica Mars," where he played a rapist-thwarting campus hero. This was after appearing on FX's Courtney Cox series "Dirt," though the 'tweens' will most likely be familiar with Blue from his quotable guest spot on Disney's hit comedy "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody." That year, Blue also appeared in the spoof feature film The "Comebacks," starring David Koechner. He played a small role in the independent "This Can't Be My Life," starring Tracie Thoms ("RENT," "The Devil Wears Prada") and Rosario Dawson, which is currently seeking distribution.
Long before he started acting on screen, Blue followed his passion to the stage. Amongst a pool of tens-of-thousands, Blue was one of eight selected for the prestigious Apprentice Program at the Actor's Theatre of Louisville, where he worked and performed with world renowned writers and directors. The following year, he was granted a scholarship to the British Academy of Dramatic Arts but his successful career prevented him from accepting straight away. He currently holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in both Acting and Musical Theatre Performance.
A self taught guitarist and pianist as well as a seasoned vocalist, Blue was always drawn to theater. A proud supporter of many charities, his participation with the Alzheimer's Association led to an invitation to perform at the last A Night at Sardi's celebrity concert alongside fellow "Ugly Betty" cast-mates, as well as Dick Van Dyke, Victor Garber, Kristin Bell, Zach Quinto and Zachary Levi. He also starred in a one-night-only re-imagining of Howard Ashman's previously unproduced musical "Dreamstuff," headlining alongside friends Fred Willard, Vicki Lewis, Eden Espinosa and Luke Macfarlane. Blue also performed in the Mark Taper Forum's premiere workshop production of the musical "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," based on the works of Motown creator Berry Gordy and directed by Kenny Leon, who had previously directed Sean P. Diddy Combs in the Broadway production of "A Raisin in the Sun." The musical co-starred such TV/film/theater talent as Cleavant Derricks and Ellis Williams. Ever the consummate theater lover, Blue continues to return to the stage, most recently directing a staged performance of "Bury the Dead" starring Michael Urie, William Mapother, Christopher Gorham and many others.
