David Morrissey stars in "The Walking Dead" on AMC as The Governor, the leader of Woodbury, a small settlement of survivors, who becomes the chief antagonist for Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his group.

A BAFTA Award nominee, David Morrissey is considered one of the most versatile British actors of his generation, having performed in an eclectic range of productions for film, television and stage.

On the big screen, Morrissey was seen in "The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep," "The Reaping," "The Other Boleyn Girl," "Centurion," "The Water Horse," "Nowhere Boy," "Blitz," "Hilary and Jackie," "Some Voices," "Born Romantic," "Captain Correlli's Mandolin," Miramax's "Derailed," and Stephen Woolley's "Stoned." He recently wrapped "Welcome to the Punch," opposite James McAvoy and Mark Strong.

On television, Morrissey played the role of Colonel Brandon in the PBS miniseries adaptation of "Sense and Sensibility." He has also appeared in some of the most popular and critically acclaimed British television dramas, including "Our Mutual Friend," "Clocking Off," "Holding On," which earned him a prestigious RTS nomination, the six-part BBC political drama "State of Play," for which he received a BAFTA nomination, and one of Channel Four's most controversial dramas, director Stephen Frears' "The Deal," in which he played Gordon Brown and for which he won an RTS Award. Morrissey also starred in "Viva Blackpool," a 90-minute program for BBC1, which also aired in the United States on BBC America. The series received a Golden Globe nomination. Television audiences also saw Morrissey starring in "Meadowlands," a seven-part series for Showtime. This psychologically gripping drama follows a family as they enter into a protective custody program, and explores the true nature of identity.
