"Den Brother," a Disney Channel Original Movie starring Hutch Dano ("Zeke and Luther") and G Hannelius ("Sonny With A Chance"), is a winsome comedy about self-centered teen hockey star, Alex Pearson, who must swallow his pride and step in as a substitute leader for his little sister Emily's Bumble Bee troop after an unforeseen chain of events occurs.
Alex Pearson is a typical teenager with a love for hockey (and girls), who wants nothing more than to go out on a date with his beautiful classmate,
Alex soon finds himself doing more than his fair share of babysitting and reluctantly winds up as Emily's unofficial Bumble Bee troop leader after her troop's den mother suddenly resigns. Now Alex is in charge of leading the elementary school-aged troop made of up Emily and four of her closest friends—Abigail, Ursula, Tina and Rachel—and must hide the fact that they don't really have a den mother anymore. Alex loves his little sister and would do anything for her, including posing as Mrs. Zamboni, the troop's new den mother, but is especially motivated to continue on with the charade when he finds out he can persuade the Bumble Bees to do chores like clean the yard, clean his skates and make him sandwiches in exchange for made-up merit badges. Another advantage of becoming troop leader is the opportunity to get closer to the beautiful Mattise, who is the leader of another troop.
Rival den mother Dina is constantly critiquing Alex's unorthodox ways, as she believes in following every guideline in the Bumble Bee manual. She isn't particularly fond of Alex and his unstructured ways and dislikes the fact that he challenges anything she says—something no person has ever done before. If she ever found out that Alex was disguising himself as Troop 57's den mother, the troop would have no chance of going to Camporee, the largest, most anticipated Bumble Bee gathering of the year.
However, it's not Dina, but Alex's self-centered antics that cost Emily and her friends an opportunity to participate in Camporee, so Alex must put his selfishness aside and devise a plan to fix the situation and raise enough money to get the girls to Camporee.
The "Den Brother" cast includes Hutch Dano ("Zeke & Luther) as Alex Pearson, G Hannelius ("Sonny With A Chance," "Leo Little's Big Show") as Emily Pearson, Kelsey Chow (of the upcoming Disney XD series "Pair of Kings") as Matisse Burrows, David Lambert ("Aaron Stone") as Danny "Goose" Gustavo, Maurice Godin ("Wizards of Waverly Place," "House M.D.") as Professor Pearson and Vicki Lewis ("Sonny With a Chance," "Til Death") as Dina.
