Derrick Santy from "Deadliest Catch" is one of the deckhands on the Kodiak fishing vessel in the Discovery Channel reality docu-series.
With 20 years of fishing under his belt, Derrick Santy is the most experienced deckhand on the Kodiak. Though he's got the expertise of a skipper, Derrick doesn't want to run a crab boat on his own—taking on the immense responsibility and stress that captains face doesn't interest him.
Derrick usually gets stuck cooking for the Kodiak's crew, but he'll gladly hand over the spatula if he can find a willing taker. This is his second year fishing for Wild Bill Wichrowski; the skipper describes him as an "old-school comedian." Bill thinks that Derrick could easily handle the job of deck boss, but he may be more interested in just getting someone else to man the galley.
