"Dr. Phil" is an Emmy-nominated hit syndicated, daily one-hour talk show hosted by America's most popular psychologist and lifestyle strategist, Dr. Phil McGraw. "Dr. Phil" is the second highest-rated daytime talk show behind "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
Originally launched in the fall of 2002 to the highest ratings of any new syndicated show since the launch of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" 16 years prior, "Dr. Phil" is enjoyed by millions of viewers nationally on 215 stations, covering 100 percent of the country. Additionally, "Dr. Phil" is licensed to more than 40 territories and countries worldwide.
McGraw's success stems from his signature "get real" approach to helping his guests solve their problems, stripping through their emotional clutter, helping them to get down to the bare bones of their issues and giving them the tools they need to move ahead. McGraw champions those who suffer from such silent epidemics as domestic violence, child abuse, depression, racism, substance abuse and other health issues that are prevalent in society, but go largely undiscussed by their victims.
During its previous eight seasons, "Dr. Phil" introduced several signature themes such as "The Ultimate Weight Loss Challenge," "The Dr. Phil Families," "The Relationship Rescue Retreat" series, "The Intervention of Brandon," "Dr. Phil's Real Desperate Housewives," "The Anatomy of a Divorce" and "Help Me Get My Kids Back."
Emmy Award-winning Executive Producer Carla Pennington has been with "Dr. Phil" since its first season, as have Senior Supervising Producers Kandi Amelon Sawyer, Angie Kraus and Kathy Giaconia.
"Dr. Phil" was created by Harpo Productions, is produced by Peteski Productions in association with CBS Television Distribution and is distributed by CBS Television Distribution, a unit of CBS Corp.
