"Drop Dead Diva" Season 6 has been ordered and will return in 2014.

"Drop Dead Diva" on Lifetime is a spirited new comedic drama series that puts a uniquely compelling twist on the age-old battle between brains and beauty.

The show tells the story of a beautiful-but-vapid model wannabe, Deb, who has a fatal car accident and suddenly finds herself in front of Heaven's gatekeeper, Fred, who declares her a self-centered "zero." Outraged, Deb attempts to persuade Fred to return her to her shallow existence but is accidentally relegated to the body of the recently deceased Jane Bingum (Brooke Elliott). A brilliant, thoughtful and plus-size attorney with a loyal assistant (Margaret Cho), Jane has always lived in the shadow of her more comely colleagues, whereas Deb has always relied on her external beauty. Now, by a twist of fate and a bolt of divine intervention, Deb must come to terms with inhabiting Jane's plus-size frame in the ultimate showdown between brains and beauty.

Season 5

The season premiere picks up from last season's cliff hanger finale with Jane frantically searching for her missing fiancé Owen, who disappeared after witnessing her kiss Grayson moments before their wedding. While both Jane and Owen nurse their broken hearts, Jane's friends and co-workers also are confronted with their own life dilemmas. Kim goes public with her pregnancy at the firm as Grayson continues to struggle with his feelings for Jane. Meanwhile, Stacy is left contemplating the future of her business, The Pakery. Newcomer Justin Deely ("90210") joins the cast as Jane's new heavenly guide Paul, stepping in for Luke (Carter McIntyre) when he is called back to Heaven just after telling her that Old Jane has returned to earth. Now that Jane and Old Jane are both on earth, the two kindred spirits will finally meet face-to-face.

Emmy nominated actor John Ratzenberger returns this season to reprise his role as Kim's father, while Jamie Ray Newman is back as Grayson's ex-fiancée Vanessa, further complicating his heart.

Season 6

At the close of last season, Jane thought she would finally have her happy ending with Grayson, until Brittany (Old Jane) revealed to Grayson that Jane isn't who he thinks she is. In the season six premiere, Jane is forced to finally tell the truth to Grayson, but his reaction leaves her more lost than ever. Meanwhile Owen gets a visit from his estranged brother, Charlie, that puts his personal life and the firm at risk. As Jane buries herself in work once again to hide from the problems in her life, she discovers her new pro bono case has high stakes with the U.S. government. With Kim on maternity leave, a new lawyer, Belinda, joins the firm and gives Jane a run for her money.

"Drop Dead Diva" is produced by Sony Pictures Television for Lifetime Television. Josh Berman ("Bones," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation") is creator and executive producer. Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Academy Award–winning "Chicago," "Hairspray," Lifetime's "Living Proof") of Storyline Entertainment are executive producers.
