Ed Speleers stars in "Downton Abbey" as Jimmy Kent.

British actor Ed Speleers is best known for playing the lead role in Twentieth Century Fox's fantasy film "Eragon," opposite Jeremy Irons and John Malkovich. Ed was nominated by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, USA, for a Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor for his work in the movie, which marked his professional debut.

Ed's most recent films include lead roles in thriller "A Lonely Place to Die," co-starring Melissa George and Sean Harris; and the short film "The Ride," co-starring Anthony LaPaglia, which was selected for the Tribeca Film Festival (2011). Speleers has also been seen in the lead role in "Love Bite," opposite Timothy Spall, Jessica Szohr and Kierston Wareing, and the short film "Metamorphosis" for the National Gallery, co-starring Anna Friel, and directed by Luke White and Remi Weekes.

On television, Speleers starred in ITV's "Echo Beach."
