Eddie Redmayne stars in "The Pillars of the Earth" on Starz as Jack Jackson.
Eddie Redmayne has already made his mark alongside some of the top directors and talent in the entertainment industry. In recent years, Eddie Redmayne has appeared in Tom Kalin's "Savage Grace" with Julianne Moore, about a young man whose mother tries to "cure" him of his homosexuality, with tragic consequences; "The Other Boleyn Girl," produced by Scott Rudin and co-starring Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson; and "Powder Blue" opposite Jessica Biel and Forest Whitaker, in which he plays a mortician who falls in love with a stripper.
Redmayne made his onscreen debut to rave reviews in 2006 in Robert De Niro's dramatic thriller "The Good Shepherd," starring Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie. In 2007, he had a supporting role in Universal's "Elizabeth: The Golden Age," directed by Shekhar Kapur and starring Cate Blanchett, Geoffrey Rush and Clive Owen. He also appeared with Toni Collette in the crime thriller "Like Minds" as a student accused of murdering a fellow classmate.
Redmayne also starred in BBC mini-series "Tess of the D'Urbervilles" in 2008.
Born in London, England, Redmayne attended Trinity College, Cambridge, where he studied art history. While there, he was recruited by a scout from Shakespeare's Globe Theatre to appear in the 400th-anniversary production of "Twelfth Night"—a role that won him both favorable reviews and an agent.
Redmayne went on to receive critical acclaim for his West End performance in Edward Albee's powerful drama "The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?"—a role which won him the 2004 London Evening Standard Award and the 2005 London Critics Circle Theatre Award for Outstanding Newcomer, as well as a nomination for best performance in a supporting role in the 2005 Olivier Awards.
