Edmond Newton from "Project Runway 2015" is one of the contestants in Season 14 of the Lifetime reality fashion design competition series. He previously was one of the contestants in the first season of the NBC reality competition series "Fashion Star."

"Fashion Star"

Born in Ohio, Edmond Newton grew up in the small country textile mill town of Union, South Carolina. The son of a military soldier and a hairstylist, he became fascinated by images of his father's worldly travel and developed a love for the arts. Fashion became a huge interest as he traveled the country with his mother attending hair shows and fashion events. From his junior high school days when he was voted "best dressed" to later becoming a professional male model at the age of 17, Newton has always been destined for a career in the fashion world. Newton has begun the process of building what he considers to be his fashion empire brick by brick. His ultimate dream is to create a successful fashion house and to become a household name.

"Project Runway"

Edmond first learned about fabric, fit and what a woman wants to wear after working as a model. He has held fashion shows to raise airfare for the early casting calls and his work has steadily improved. Edmond designs easygoing, glamorous clothes that are inspired in large part by his mother, the most important woman in his life.

Why will he win? Edmond's extraordinary determination and sheer animal magnetism could take him far on "Project Runway." He's certainly ready to get out of Atlanta and take his design career to the next level.

Here is an interview with Edmond:

When did you realize you had designer potential?

Thinking back on it, I think that I was four or five years old. Of course I did not know what a designers was at that time.

Have you won any awards for your designs?

The ENDENN Fashion Freestyle competition, RagTrade Atlanta and recently a scholarship with Lectra featuring Kaledo.

Strengths as a designer?

Evening wear, high fashion.

Weaknesses as a designer?

Simple, boring everyday clothing.

Biggest fear as a designer?

Not having someone to carry on my design legacy after I've moved on.

How did you end up auditioning for "Project Runway"?

Auditioning is part of my calendar. I've been auditioning since the first season.

Challenge you wish they'd bring back?

The Glamping challenge.

Challenge you hope they don't?

The parachute challenge.

What's your take on team challenges?

I know I work well alone. Team challenges can either go really good or really bad.

Do you think you can win "Project Runway"?

Yes, I know that I can win. I've been prepping for this opportunity for many years now. Each and every time I audition, I take something away to learn and grow myself as a designer for the next audition. I believe in the "Project Runway" brand and I would love for it to be a part of my success story. I am focused and seasoned. I am 100 percent open to this amazing experience and am ready for whatever challenges that "Project Runway" is about to bring my way.
