A love affair with art and design began at a very early age for Eduardo Xol (pronounced "soul"). As a child he, his brother and sister spent a great deal of time with their grandmother, "Mama Catita," in the family garden where they learned the art of raising roses and exterior composition. Wanting to take part in this process, Eduardo Xol sought to further develop his landscaping design skills by assisting his father in pruning and raising esthetically significant Bonsai. Driven by the joy his work could bring to others, Eduardo Xol's hobby soon became his passion, and his passion became an integral part of his career. Born in East Los Angeles, Eduardo Xol's multicultural experience of being raised in a predominantly Asian and Latino community has shaped his aesthetic influences as an artist. Eduardo Xol was one of the youngest musicians to be scouted and selected to perform with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of ten. The former child music prodigy went on to study theatre arts at UCLA, where he found time to produce several hit musical theatre and comedy revues that toured throughout the U.S. Not surprisingly, Eduardo Xol eventually headed his own production company, Xol Co., producing music and videos for well-known artists both here in the U.S. and in Latin America. Eduardo Xol's partnership with BMG Latin produced his first solo album, "La Pasión." One of America's best kept secrets was becoming harder to hide, as Eduardo Xol landed roles on several worldwide syndicated telenovelas. Despite Eduardo Xol's growing fame as a Latin American pop star (as Edi Xol), VJ, songwriter, composer and television personality, he could not forget the time spent in his grandmother's garden. Eduardo Xol's upbringing, artistic talent, and love of landscaping launched him into the world of exterior design. After assisting other well-known landscape designers and architects in Los Angeles, Eduardo Xol began developing his own design niche and clientele through the formation of his design company, XOL:DESIGN, and in the fall of 2004 he joined the design team of ABC's Emmy Award-winning "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." Eduardo Xol is now recognized as one of Hollywood's elite designers, lifestyle specialists and entertainers, gracing the pages of People, People en Español (as well a penning a monthly column entitled "Casa" for People en Español), Tu Ciudad magazine and many others. In addition to working on design projects that range from multi-million dollar estates to boutique hotels, Eduardo Xol has his own creative development company, XOL:CREATIVE. His new interior design book hit stores this past spring—Home Sense, from Harper Collins/RAYO—and his Quincenera Card line for Taylor Paper went wide this summer. Xol also writes a weekly blog for AOL Latino (the web's premiere Latino celebrity hot spot), and is a regular segment contributor for "Good Morning America." MAGNA Global, Eduardo's licensing company, recently finalized a deal on behalf of XOL: CREATIVE to create a tabletop, bed & bath, and barware collection for the internationally renowned company, Waterford. Eduardo Xol now shares his time between his native Los Angeles and New York City.
