Ellen David stars in "18 to Life" as Judith Bellow, the mother of young newlywed Tom Bellow (Michael Seater).
Ellen David has worked with such noted film and television directors as Denys Arcand ("Stardom," "Love and Human Remains"), Alan Rudolph ("Afterglow," "Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle"), Tony Goldwyn ("A Walk on the Moon"), Mario Azzopardi ("The Stork Derby," "Savage Messiah"), Patricia Rozema ("The Hunger"), Émile Gaudreault ("Mambo Italiano"), Masato Harada ("Rowing Through"), George
David's training began in her native Montreal with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drama from Concordia University, followed by a Master of Fine Arts in theatre performance from York University in Toronto and post-graduate studies in London at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and École Philippe Gaulier in Paris. She attended The Banff School of Fine Arts drama program for two summers, working there with distinguished teachers such as Tim Monich, Pierre Lefevre, Perry Schneiderman, and Harold Baldridge, and recently participated in the Banff "Women in the Director's Chair" program.
David has been a regular on numerous Canadian television series, including "Urban Angel," "Sirens, Bouscotte," "The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo," "The Business" and "Ciao Bella," for which she was nominated for a Prix Gemeaux and an ACTRA award for Outstanding Female Performance. She also appears in the feature films "Fatal Verdict" and "Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde."
On stage, David has played Anna in almost 200 performances of the runaway hit "Mambo Italiano" in Montreal and Toronto. Other theatrical highlights include roles in "The Carpenter," "Dancing at Lughnasa," "The Substance of Fire," "On the Verge," "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," and many others.
