Pataky attended the University of San Pablo, where she studied journalism but pursued her dream of becoming an actress by enrolling in acting classes on the side. She left school after she was cast in the television series "Al Salir de Clase." The series was a huge success and launched Pataky into the Spanish market.
Pataky's first film, "The Art of Dying," was a box office hit in Spain. She went on to work in a wide range of film genres, from comedy and action to drama and thrillers. She proved to be a draw for international audiences and co-starring in the French box office hit "Iznogoud," as well as taking on a role in "Manuale d'amore 2 (Capitoli successivi)," which had the second biggest opening weekend of all time in Italy.
Pataky launched her U.S. career with a supporting role in New Line Cinema's cult hit "Snakes on a Plane," starring Samuel L. Jackson and directed by David R. Ellis.
