Elvy Yost stars in "The Catch" on ABC as Sophie Novak.

Elvy Yost made her feature-film debut in Todd Graff's "Bandslam," produced by Walden Media, in a role originally written for a boy. After her audition, Graff promptly rewrote it for her. For that film, as in Spike Lee's remake of the Korean cult classic "Oldboy," starring Josh Brolin, Yost played the cello. She's a multi-instrumentalist, but her main musical focus is singing. Yost's YouTube channel has garnered much attention for her affectionate covers of an eclectic array of songs. Her latest jazz gig was singing to a crowd of well over a thousand in Washington Square Park, with the New York Jazz Harmonic.

Yost continued her screen career with recurring roles on NBC's comedy series "The Office" and Todd Haynes' Golden Globe and Emmy award-winning HBO miniseries "Mildred Pierce," working opposite Kate Winslet.

Other screen credits include the independent film "Brightest Star" with Chris Lowell and Rose McIver; a guest-starring role on "Southland," opposite Regina King; a short film by Sundance favorite Kenny Riches called "How to Speak Clearly"; and Shia LaBeouf's attention-grabbing short film "HowardCantour.com."

Upcoming films include James Ponsoldt's "The Circle," adapted from the Dave Eggers novel of the same name, starring Emma Watson and John Boyega, and "The List," starring Patrick Fugit and Victoria Tennant.

Yost's latest theater credits are Alena Smith's "The New Sincerity," directed by dear Bob Balaban, and MacArthur "Genius" Samuel D. Hunter's "Pocatello" at Playwrights Horizons. In "Pocatello," the New York Times' Ben Brantley wrote that Yost delivered "the most piquant performance" and that it was "spot-on." Other stage credits include Juliet in "Romeo & Juliet," with the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival; and also at Actors Theatre of Louisville, "Curse of the Starving Class," with Judith Ivey; "Balm in Gilead," with Michael Shannon, produced by Beau Willimon; and singing and music composition for several Chekhov performances at Lake Lucille, with Adam Driver, Deirdre O'Connell, Annie Baker and T.R. Knight.
