Erica Durance stars in "Saving Hope" on NBC as Dr. Alex Reid.

Durance is best known for portraying the iconic Lois Lane in The CW's drama series "Smallville" about a young Superman. In the role of the future Daily Planet reporter, Durance plays Lois as a street-smart, tough young woman who bonds with the Kent family, much to Clark's (Tom Welling) dismay.

Growing up in Three Hills, Alberta, Erica Durance is dual citizen of Canada and the United States. She began landing guest-starring roles on series such as "Stargate SG-1," "The Chris Isaak Show," "Andromeda" and "Tru Calling," as well as numerous national and international commercials. She also starred in the 2004 pilot "Gramercy Park" and guest starred in the fantasy series "The Collector."

In 2003 acclaimed television director David Nutter ("X-Files," "Smallville," "Supernatural," "Chase") met her in an audition and immediately signed her with Warner Bros. In 2004, Durance landed the much-coveted role of Lois Lane in the hit show "Smallville" on which she starred until the series ended in 2011. More recently, Durance was a guest star on NBC's "Harry's Law" and "Charlie's Angels."

Durance appeared in the feature film "The Butterfly Effect 2" as the central female character, Julie, who is a bright young professional who takes on a number of different characters as her destiny changes again and again throughout the movie. In addition, Durance starred in "Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie" and Lifetime's original thriller "Stranded."
