Ethan Peck on "10 Things I Hate About You" Ethan Peck on "10 Things I Hate About You" Ethan Peck Pictures Ethan Peck stars as Patrick Verona on ABC Family's "10 Things I Hate About You." Stepping into the role originally played by Heath Ledger, Ethan Peck brings his own take on the popular character. While not much is truly known about Patrick, there is much said about him – and that's fine by him. He is a dark, brooding figure on the fringe of Padua High School. Patrick has a genuine mysteriousness that is at once intriguing and unsettling. Will he ever let himself open up to anyone? This series regular role comes on the heels of Ethan Peck's film debut at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2008, where his film "Tennessee" premiered. In the Lee Daniels-produced, Aaron Woodley-directed feature Ethan Peck co-stars opposite Mariah Carey and Adam Rothenberg portraying a young man afflicted with a terminal illness. In order to bring authenticity to the role, Ethan Peck researched the physical and emotional effects the illness would have on the character, then lost 15 pounds in preparation for the part. That performance earned Ethan Peck praise in a Tribeca review by Joel Keller at cinematical.com with the following: "Peck, in his first film role, is remarkable as Ellis." Following "Tennessee," Ethan Peck segued to his second feature film, "Adopt a Sailor," directed by Charles Evered, playing the lead role of Sailor opposite Bebe Neuwirth and Peter Coyote. "Adopt a Sailor" recently screened at the Sonoma International Film Festival, and for his performance as Sailor, Ethan Peck was awarded the 2009 Sonoma International Film Festival Best Actor Award. Ethan Peck recently filmed a brief role in Jon Turteltaub's "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" and Joel Schumacher's "Twelve." Although he is new to feature film, Ethan Peck has been acting since he was nine years old. Aside from having done a number of commercials as a child and in his teens, Ethan Peck's TV resume includes roles in "Marshall Law," a film for Showtime TV in which he played Jimmy Smits' son and Camilla Belle's older brother; "That 70's Show," playing a young Ashton Kutcher in flashback; various roles on "The Drew Carey Show," "Charlie Grace" and "The O'Keefes," plus a number of pilots. Ethan Peck worked opposite the Olsen Twins on "Passport to Paris," a film for their direct-to-video series. A native of Los Angeles, Ethan Peck is the son of Stephen Peck, who serves as a community liaison for U..S vets, and the artist Francine Matarazzo. Ethan Peck's older sister, Marisa Matarazzo, is a fiction writer. Ethan Peck attended private schools in North Hollywood—Campbell Hall from K-8 and then high school at the exclusive prep school Harvard Westlake. At Harvard Westlake Ethan Peck played defensive end in varsity football, ran varsity track and excelled in varsity lacrosse. Aside from a full academic and athletic slate, and in between auditions, throughout junior and senior high school Ethan Peck studied classical cello, earning membership in the advanced high school orchestra at Harvard Westlake. In his senior year Ethan Peck was accepted on early admission to the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU and was selected for drama studies in their ETW (Experimental Theater Wing) studio. There Ethan Peck received a wide range of training in voice, movement and acting while learning to create, perform and direct his own work. Ethan Peck took a leave of absence after his third year, as his career was gearing into full swing. Ethan Peck has since left NY and is now living and working in Los Angeles. As the grandson of the late great Hollywood icon, Gregory Peck, Ethan Peck is ready not only to continue his grandfather's legacy in film but, as importantly, to create a legacy in the name Ethan Peck.
