Frankie Lons stars on BET's reality docu-drama, "Frankie & Neffe," a spin-off of "Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is," on which she also starred. Frankie is the candid biological mother of platinum-selling R&B artist Keyshia Cole.
Frankie Lons can be described as a charismatic, dynamic, strong-willed woman with a whatever-it-takes attitude. She has transitioned from her role as a struggling mother trying to improve ties with her star daughter, to running her own show.
Comfortable in her own skin, Frankie is the life of the party, a fixture at Atlanta hot spots where she is bubbly, full of energy and known for her pick up line, "Holla!" But outside of work, Frankie enjoys time with her children and grandchildren.
Born Frankie Lavern Lons in Oakland, California, she does not blame her surroundings for her downfall. Frankie admits that she abused drugs and alcohol throughout most of her life. She used them to cope with her turbulent situation, living in the streets and trying to take care of her child, Keyshia Cole, the oldest of seven kids.
In and out of jail, Frankie was forced to send her eldest daughter Keyshia to live in foster care. Neffeteria Pugh, her second oldest child, lived in and out of group homes until she was old enough to live on her own. Frankie lost touch with the remaining five kids until they reunited on the set of Keyshia Cole's reality show, "The Way It Is."
At Frankie's release, she struggled to maintain a relationship with Keyshia and Neffe. She prides herself on staying away from negative situations and eventually left Oakland in 2007.
Frankie now resides in Atlanta with her three children, Keyshia, Neffe and Elite Noel, and a slew of grandchildren. She is clean, sober and ready to work, starring in her own show with her second oldest daughter titled, "Frankie & Neffe."
"The show exudes growth. People are going to see the change and get a good laugh," she said of the show.
Frankie is also working on her autobiography, "Two Sides to Every Story," her own shoe line geared toward adult women and men called "Code 10," and is launching her own perfume and cologne called "Holla." Despite staying busy, she remains upbeat.
"I am positive 90 percent of the time. The other 10 percent depends on what time of the day it is. I say what I mean and mean what I say. Thanks!"
