Freema Agyeman stars in "The Carrie Diaries" on The CW as Larissa Loughton.

British actress Freema Agyeman recently starred as Alesha Phillips in "Law & Order: UK" and the Doctor's companion, Martha Smith-Jones, in "Doctor Who," reprising the role from a recurring arc in "Torchwood." She previously appeared in "Doctor Who" as Torchwood operative Adeola in the episode "Army of Ghosts," but suffered a terrible fate at the hands of the Cybermen.

Born in London to Ghanaian and Iranian parents, Agyeman made her TV acting debut in a revamped version of classic soap opera "Crossroads," for which she received a British Soap Awards Best Newcomer nomination in 2003. Roles in "Casualty," "The Bill" and "Silent Witness" followed before the call to Cardiff for "Doctor Who." In addition, she recurred in BBC's "Little Dorritt."

On the big screen, Freema can be seen in the British film "Rulers and Dealers."
