Garret Fleming from "Top Chef" is one of the chefs competing in season 13 of the Bravo reality cooking competition. Born in Rockford, Illinois, he is currently the executive chef at Barrel in Washington, D.C. He received his A.O.S. Culinary Arts degree at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. His favorite simple fall dessert recipe is Apple Tart with Whipped Cream and Candied Ginger.

With a background in Italian, French and Baltic cuisine, chef Garret Fleming began his culinary career in some of Charleston, South Carolina's finest kitchens including Peninsula Grill and Mercato, before heading up the boutique brasserie, Stella's, in Coastal Maine. Since moving to Washington, D.C., Fleming piloted The Lincoln, The Pig and started his own pop up concept, Gristle, before opening Barrel on Capitol Hill.
