George Blagden stars in "Vikings" on History Channel as Athelstan, an Anglo-Saxon monk captured by Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) on his first raid on England.

On the big screen, Blagden can be seen in Tom Hooper's "Les Misérables" (2012), starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway, and John Huddles' "The Philosophers," alongside Bonnie Wright, Daryl Sabara and James D'Arcy. Blagden made his feature film debut in a bit role in "Wrath of the Titans," starring Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes.

Having obtained a drama scholarship to one of the leading public schools in the country, George Blagden performed regularly at the Stahl Theatre in Oundle, playing roles such as the cat in "Honk!," Marc in "Art" and the baker in Stephen Sondheim's "Into the Woods." Whilst at Oundle, he became a member of the National Youth Theatre, and at 18 years old he left to study at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, whose alumni include Daniel Craig, Ewan McGregor and Orlando Bloom. While there, Blagden explored the works of writers such as Anton Chekhov, William Shakespeare, Simon Stephens and David Hare, and has also performed in Restoration comedy and musical theater. Before graduating in 2011, he also enjoyed training in singing, dance, acrobatics and stage combat.

Blagden started singing at 13 years old, performing in a number of choirs in venues such as King's College, Cambridge and St. Paul's Cathedral. He was also the lead singer of a rock band for three years and started a songwriting class which produced songs that were available on iTunes. Blagden produced his first album, "Dimensional," and recently appeared in "Opening Doors," a selection of new Musical Theatre writing at the Soho Theatre.
