Gerald Kyd stars in "Persons Unknown" on NBC as Mark Renbe, a seasoned journalist who is always on the lookout for a scandal or murder and decides to pursue the bizarre disappearance of missing mom Janet Cooper (Daisy Betts).
Gerald Kyd was born in South Africa, emigrating with his family to the United Kingdom in the mid 1980s. He trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, immediately joining the Royal Shakespeare Company after graduation. Kyd became known to British television audiences for his work in the long-running drama "Casualty," leaving after two seasons to continue working in the theatre. He has worked at London's Globe and Hampstead, and with the English Touring Theatre (his performance in "Love's Labours Lost" was nominated for the prestigious Ian Charleson Award) and most recently completed a world tour with the Royal Shakespeare Company, playing Trigorin in Anton Checkov's "The Seagull," directed by Sir Trevor Nunn and starring Sir Ian McKellen.
He can also be seen in the independent feature "Legacy," which has been selected for the Tribeca film festival, starring Idris Elba.
