Grayson Schmitz from "Top Chef" is one of the chefs competing in season 13 of the Bravo reality cooking competition. She is back for redemption after previously competing in Season 9, "Top Chef: Texas" and coming in sixth place overall. Currently living in New York City, she is a freelance chef focusing on Italian and French inspired cuisine. She earned her A.O.S. Culinary Arts degree from the Culinary Institute of America. Her favorite simple fall dessert recipe is Sticky Toffee Pudding with Sour Cream Whipped Cream.

Grayson Schmitz's passion for food, people, and the simple joy in life is apparent in everything that she does, from her drive of pleasing people through cooking, to her contagious laughter and the humor she brings with her in every situation. Hailing from the small town of New Holstein, Wisconsin, Grayson has a strong foundation of family and Midwestern values, as well as a healthy affinity for cheese and beer. She migrated to the East Coast to pursue her schooling in the culinary arts. After graduating from the CIA, she spent her formative years training under the best chefs in the city, including Jean Georges Vongerichten, Fabbio Trabocchi, and Kurt Gutenbrunner. She began cooking at Jean-Georges, followed by tenures at Fiamma and then Wallsé. In 2011, she led the conceptual team at Olivier Cheng Catering & Events as a recipe developer and has gone on to open some of New York's most exciting downtown kitchens including Willow Road and Birds & Bubbles. She is currently working on creating a new restaurant concept, opening next year in New York.
