Greta Gerwig stars in "Arthur," alongside Russell Brand, Helen Mirren and Jennifer Garner, as Naomi. The comedy centers around a drunken playboy (Brand), who stands to lose a substantial inheritance when he falls for a woman his family does not like.

Greta Gerwig has been dubbed by the Los Angeles Times as "The Accidental 'It' Girl." She made her mark in the indie and festival film markets starring in such films as "Nights and Weekends" and "Hannah Takes the Stairs." After her recent starring role in "Greenberg," Gerwig is considered one of the major stars to watch.

Gerwig also recently starred in "No Strings Attached," opposite Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher, and will appear in Whit Stillman's new film "Damsel in Distress," in the lead role of Violet. The picture is set to be released in 2011.

She appeared on the big screen as Florence Marr opposite Ben Stiller in Noah Baumbach's "Greenberg." The film was released in April 2010. Most recently, she was nominated for the Breakthrough Actor category in the 2010 Gotham Awards, in addition to Best Female Lead in the 2011 Independent Spirit Awards, for her role in "Greenberg."

Gerwig is best known for her significant role in the "Mumblecore" movement in independent film. She co-wrote, co-directed and starred in "Nights and Weekends," directed by Joe Swanberg. The film, which screened at South by Southwest, sold to IFC. It was the first major sale in the South by Southwest festival history.

Her other credits include her lead roles in "Yeast," directed by Mary Bronstein, "Baghead," directed by the Duplass Brothers, and "House of the Devil."

Gerwig graduated magna cum laude from Barnard College, Columbia University. Gerwig currently resides in New York City.
