Heather McPhie is a freestyle skiing athlete competing at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
Heather McPhie has had a breakout 2009-10 season thus far. Of the seven World Cup events in which she competed, she registered top-five finishes at five of them and reached the podium at the final three. On January 14, 2010, she tied 2006 Olympic gold medalist Jennifer Heil of Canada for first place at a World Cup in Deer Valley, Utah, the 2002 Olympic venue. McPhie ranks second in the World Cup moguls standings, behind Heil, and enters the 2010 Vancouver Games as the top-ranked American in women's moguls.
A former gymnast, McPhie is the daughter of two ski instructors. Once afraid of the jumping aspect of moguls, the aerial aspect of the sport now has become a strong suit due to her background in gymnastics.
McPhie works as a bookkeeper for her family's business, McPhie Cabinetry, a kitchen and bath design firm in Bozeman, Mont. According to the company's website, "And of course, Heather McPhie, our office manager, may be the first friendly voice you encounter when you call McPhie Cabinetry."
Like men's moguls skier and Olympic teammate Bryon Wilson, McPhie hails from Montana. McPhie's hometown of Bozeman is located approximately 90 miles east of Wilson's hometown of Butte.
