Helen Slater stars in "The Lying Game" on ABC Family as Kristin.

Helen Slater was born in Massapequa, Long Island, New York, and began acting at an early age. She attended the New York High School of Performing Arts, and made her acting debut in 1982's after-school special "Amy & the Angel," co-starring with James Earl Jones and Matthew Modine.

Her big break came when she was cast as the lead in "Supergirl" in 1984. She then appeared in "The Legend of Billie Jean," "Ruthless People," alongside Bette Midler, and "The Secret of My Succe$s." Slater went on to appear in more feature films, like "City Slicker," starring Billy Crystal, Daniel Stern and Jack Palance, as well as "Lassie."

Her foray into the world of TV has led to recurring roles on "Gigantic" and "Smallville," as well as appearances on "CSI: NY," "Greek," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and "Will & Grace."
