"HGTV Design Star 2011" is an interior design reality competition series in its sixth season.

"HGTV Design Star 6" adds a star-studded panel of guest judges, including designers Thom Filicia, Robert and Cortney Novogratz, Nate Berkus and Kathy Ireland, as well as Food Network's Paula Deen and Dina Manzo, event planner and former cast member of "Real Housewives of New Jersey." The series' celebrated line-up of stars includes HGTV's own returning judges Genevieve Gorder, Candice Olson and Vern Yip, as well as a guest appearance on the panel by John Gidding. David Bromstad, the first "HGTV Design Star" champion, will mentor the finalists as they compete for a chance to win their own show on HGTV. The series is hosted by Tanika Ray.

The finalists, who include professional interior designers, retail merchandisers, stylists and artists, must impress the judges with their ingenious designs and sharp on-camera skills to avoid elimination. The "Design Star 2011" contestants include Alisha J Allen, Meg Caswell, Kellie Clements, Mark Diaz, Leslie Ezelle, Blanche Garcia, Kevin Grace, Douglas Hines, Cathy Hobbs, Bret Ritter, Karl Sponholtz and Tyler Wisler.

The judges will visit the location of each design challenge to complete in-person evaluations of the finalists' work. The finalists also must successfully complete tests of their on-camera hosting skills, which range from providing simple design tips to executing a full design demonstration on a national talk show. Along the way, David will offer the finalists his helpful design insights and hosting advice.

"HGTV Design Star" Season 6 is produced by 495 Productions.

justjen says:
nina was such an evil b**** tonight she is nothing like our darling star i think she should be thrown out for representing women so badlyt
dmm says:
In past seasons I have liked Vern, but this last episode he has got an attitude, I it is not appealing. love candice and Genieve. I really liked the women you had on the show the first 3 seasons. But vern need to not think he is so cool
cmm says:
Help! I fell asleep. Who went home, Nina or Tera?
dsdisgusting says:
I am now totally disgusted with the show. Dan should not have been sent home!! Alex yes definitely Nina..She is a liar, user and abuser. She used Dan and even stated it. She doesn't design at all. Alex just makes one mistake after another. Vern I used to like on trading spaces -- now he is nothing but a condescending snoot... If Nina makes it another week I am done this just totally blows
pjc says:
This is the worst season you have done. If likability is important (and it should be), then Nina should have been the first to go! She is obnoxious. Also, why all the group challenges? Aren't you auditioning someone to have their own show? Not see how they can throw their fellow contestants under the bus? And inspirations? A Joke. Clothing? Musical instruments? Flowers? What's next? Cereal, toothpaste, feminine products, dogs? None of these challenges have shown if the person should have their own show. Pam Casey, San Jose, CA.

Got HGTV Design Star spoilers? What did you think of the last show?
