Iain Glen stars in HBO's "Game of Thrones," as Ser Jorah Mormont, and also recurs in PBS's "Downton Abbey," as Sir Richard Carlisle.

Considered one of Scotland's finest actors, BAFTA-nominated Iain Glen grew up in Edinburgh, where he studied at the University of Aberdeen, escaping an unhappy childhood through acting. He eventually dropped out to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, graduating in 1985 with fellow "Masterpiece" alum Ralph Fiennes ("Page Eight") and winning the Gold Bancroft Medal. Over the past 25 years, Glen has taken on everything from low-budget independent films to major Hollywood blockbusters such as "Tomb Raider" and "Resident Evil"; from BBC costume dramas to a nude appearance opposite Nicole Kidman in "The Blue Room" and from popular British television series to stage roles in Shakespearean classics. He made his film debut in "Gorillas in the Mist," starring Sigourney Weaver.

Iain recently starred in HBO's movie "Into the Storm," opposite Brendan Gleeson, as King George VI. In addition, Iain was seen in the 5-part BBC miniseries "The Diary of Anne Frank" (2009) as Otto Frank. He also starred in "The Belsen Redemption," which centered on the liberation of Bergen-Belsen camp where Anne, Margot and Edith Frank eventually lost their lives.

Iaian plays the recurring role of Vaughan Edwards on the British series "MI-5." His PBS "Masterpiece" credits include "Kidnapped," "Wives & Daughters," "Painted Lady," "The Wyvern Mystery" and "Adam Bede."
