Harding was born in Heidelberg, Germany, the youngest child of a military family. The family moved back to northern Virginia a few years later, where he excelled in soccer and basketball. In high school, he joined the drama club (because it was the only coed activity at his all-male preparatory school) and discovered a new passion,
