Ian Pirie stars opposite Cynthia Nixon in Starz' epic miniseries "World Without End," based upon the global bestseller by Ken Follett, as Elfric.

Ian Pirie has had a wide-ranging career, from the award-winning National Theatre of Scotland's tour of "Blackwatch," a James Bond movie, to the Royal Shakespeare Company, the lead in a West End musical to playing an inspector in the cult youth series "Misfits."

Pirie's theater credits include the National Theatre of Scotland's award-winning "Blackwatch" (Barbican plus US tour), "Macbeth" at Shakespeare's Globe, directed by Lucy Bailey, "Romeo and Juliet" (Mercury Colchester) playing Capulet, "The Phantom of the Opera" (West End) playing Buquet/Firman and peforming several times as The Phantom, "Sunshine on Leith" (Dundee Rep & Tour), Bardolph in "The Merry Wives of Windsor" (RSC) with Judi Dench, directed by Greg Doran, "The Canterbury Tales" (Royal Shakespeare Company and West End), "The Postman Always Rings Twice" (West End) directed by Lucy Bailey, "Macbeth" (West End) directed by Ed Hall with Sean Bean playing the title role, "Ha'penny Bridge" (Cork Opera House), "Notre-Dame De Paris" (West End) playing Quasimodo the co-lead, "Tale of Two Cities" (Birmingham Alex/Windsor Theatre Royal), "Bouncers" (Exeter Northcott), "Les Miserables" (West End) playing Corfeyrac and performing many times as Valjean, "Jesus Christ Superstar" (West End) and "Robin of Sherwood" (Liverpool Playhouse).

UK television credits include "Misfits" (E4/Ch4) playing DI Roberts, "Daughters" (BBC), "Dalziel & Pascoe" (BBC) playing guest lead Jake Hawkins, "Casualty" (BBC), "The Bill" (ITV), three episodes of "Eastenders" (BBC), "Green Eyed Monster" (Film & General), "The Knock" (LWT), "Grange Hill" (BBC) for four episodes, "Life Support" (BBC Scotland) and two episodes of "Family Affairs" (Channel Five).

Pirie's film credits include "Hippie Hippie Shake" (Working Title), "The Dark Knight" (Warner Bros), "Die Another Day" (Eon Prods) directed by Lee Tamahori , Martin Scorsese's "Gangs of New York" (Paradise Square) and "Screwed" (Blackburner Films).
